The Mona Lisa Has Vanished
The Mona Lisa Has Vanished – Presented by Frédéric Hodgson
Today’s music is fascinating and intriguing. New ideas, new sounds. And our composers have tons of ideas. The theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911 inspired a highly expressive work by the sound magician Dinuk Wijeratne, whose first quartet enchanted audiences a few years ago. We also pay tribute to a brilliant local cellist, Christian Elliott. Our friends Samy Moussa and Kevin Lau will introduce us to their fascinating music, while Americans Tim Jansa and Brett William Dietz will also entertain us and delight our souls.
Christian Elliott – Tzigane
Samy Moussa – Orpheus in Nunavut
Tim Jansa – 3 Miniatures
Brett William Dietz – Voodoo Spells and Gris-gris
Kevin Lau – Song of the Quaking Aspens
Dinuk Wijeratne – The Disappearance of Lisa Gherardini
Tickets are available at the door the night of the concert or online.
