Clara Schumann was a virtuoso pianist, the wife of a genius composer, Robert Schumann, and the mentor of another genius composer, Johannes Brahms. She was also a composer, discreet perhaps, but the equal of these two giants. In particular, she played a crucial role in the completion of the Brahms Piano Quintet, one of his greatest achievements.
