Concert donné au souper du Roy – Jean-Baptiste Lully
For flute, oboe, violin, viola, cello and harpsichord

On this 400th anniversary of the birth of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known as Molière, the Ensemble Prisme pays tribute to this great artist by focusing on the music of his time, which so marked the composers of the following decades.

First of all, Prisme will perform the music that Marc-Antoine Charpentier, at the time a young musician, wrote for Molière’s last play, Le malade imaginaire.

This music had such appeal, even to foreign ears, that many German composers wrote in the French style, including Georg Philip Telemann, who wrote six Paris quartets.

Finally, let us pay homage to Jean-Baptiste Lully, this Italian who immigrated to France to create the French Baroque style and first collaborator of Molière.

An evening at Molière’s theater and at the court of Louis XIV, with his panache and taste for dance.

The members of Ensemble Prisme, Jeffrey Miller on flute, Frédéric Hodgson on oboe,  Laura Nerenberg on violin, Olivier Philippe-Auguste on viola, Anne Contant on cello and Marie Bouchard on harpsichord invite you to this most special evening.
