Prisme and Folklore
Prisme and Folklore – Presented by Anne Contant
All music, ultimately, is derived from folklore, and great composers have produced masterpieces from folk pieces or have written pieces inspired by the folklore of their country. This is the case with our composer-in-residence, Simon Rivet, who will create his first string quartet. It is also the case with the formidable pianist Philippe Prud’homme, who has written two exciting pieces simply titled: Reels. In addition to works by Arnold, Bartók, and Medaglia, we will pay tribute to one of our greatest songwriters, Gilles Vigneault.
Furthermore, we are pleased to highlight that the ensemble’s composer-in-residence, Simon Rivet, recently won jointly the Berliner Kompositionspreis 2026, awarded by Sonar Loft, accompanied by a prize of €5000 and a performance of his Suite folklorique canadienne française, presented in Berlin on March 31.
