Prism and Folklore
Prism and Folklore – Presented by Anne Contant
All music, ultimately, is derived from folklore, and great composers have produced great masterpieces from folk pieces or written pieces inspired by the folklore of their country. This is the case for our composer-in-residence, Simon Rivet, who will premiere his first string quartet. It is also the case for the formidable pianist Philippe Prud’homme, who has written two exciting pieces simply titled: Reels. In addition to works by Brahms and Bartok, we will pay tribute to one of our greatest songwriters, Gilles Vigneault.
Woodwork – Scandinavian Airs
Simon Rivet – Trois fantaisies sur des chants folkloriques (premiere)
Johannes Brahms – Hungarian Dance No. 5
